You Can't Outsource Your Creativity
Written by: Numair Qureshi
You cannot outsource your life's work.
Believe me, I tried.
I tried so hard to shortcut the process and achieve results quickly, but I failed at that because I am an artist, and artists do not take shortcuts.
When you take a shortcut with your art, you sacrifice its integrity.
You can outsource some things, but you can't outsource your perspective.
- That is something that will need to be built over time.
Have patience, and know that the Road to Mastery, on average, takes ten years.
No amount of self-help courses or motivational YouTube clips can help you to bypass that period.
If you want to leave a mark on the world, you're going to need to go through that period of darkness where you find your own rhetoric and way of expressing yourself authentically.
This is not something that someone can give to you.
Rather, it is something that you arrive at after you put your ten thousand hours into your art.
You cannot outsource creativity.
You can only produce it and lead with it.
When your creativity becomes your vision, then you can hire other people to help you build on that vision; however, remember, these people will be looking to you to direct them where you want to go.
Can they bring their own ideas and perspectives to the table? Sure. But that does not absolve you of your responsibility to drill down into your own theories and findings.
You cannot outsource your creativity.
