Your Identity is Linked To Your Narrative

Identity is Linked to your Narrative.

If you do not define your narrative clearly, then you will not be able to live to your potential, and your life will feel inauthentic.

In yesterday's post, I wrote about the Four Steps towards Self-Actualization. The first step in that framework is to "Follow Your Curiosity."

When you follow your curiosity, you embark on a journey towards mastery. That journey can take you a decade, and it often does; however, it is something you must absolutely commit to if you want to live the most authentic life.

What separates humans from animals is our ability to think in abstract form. Animals don't have the ability to change their environments with their imagination, but humans do. We invented the printing press, we invented medicine, we invented the wheel, and we will continue inventing.

Our ability to think in abstract thought and then to give body to that that is the hallmark of what it means to be human. When you begin to pursue your curiosity, your journey starts off in abstraction. Nothing makes sense, and you will often face ridicule and opposition.

People will judge you for treading into uncharted waters. You can't listen to those critics. You must continue to pursue that curiosity of yours so that you can give its message form.

Once you do that, once you are able to express your curiosity clearly, that is when your narrative emerges. People will know you for the story you weave, they will know you for the abstractions that you brought into form.

This is how you stand out, this is how you get remembered, and this is how you become immortal. When you dedicate your life to the expression of your unique curiosity, when you let that narrative emerge, when you let your narrative become the expression of your identity, that is when you go down in history.

We need more people like you.

Now tell me, what is your narrative? How do you want to be known? How will you go down in history? Your identity is linked to that expression.
